BHA Horsezone Championship - The Lionhearts

The Lionhearts were a rather mixed team at the Horsezone Championship weekend, with players from all several horseball clubs with a large range of experience. Warm up on Saturday was time for a few new faces to get settled into the team, and then it was time to play.

You may say we got our butts kicked a little, but it was a learning curve for a a team of mostly new players, with every single player giving their all.

In the afternoon we weren’t going down without a fight against the Nottingham Knights. It was a very well fought game on both sides leading to a very close score, but the Knights clinched the win. Nevertheless, the Lionhearts left with their heads held high, It was a great match against some players who made an amazing comeback after the previous weekend.

On Sunday we had a rematch against the Harley Greys, and this time we hit them hard. We worked well as a team, now settling into how each member was playing. We ended with a much closer score this time, but still leaving the Greys on top. Our second game against the Knights was fast paced and so much more aggressive. There was some cracking tackling, defending and attacking, but we had to admit defeat in the end, to a team who played their hearts out. However, we couldn’t have planned a more exciting set of games, coming third overall. It was a great weekend, making some great new friends and playing against two wonderful teams. Every member of Lionhearts played their heart out, put up a fight, and should all be very proud.
